Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd, a key player in providing earth movers and cranes for construction sites, has reinforced its commitment to the Make in India initiative with the launch of the ‘Made in India’ SK80 Excavator in Chennai. The 8-ton mid-segment excavator was unveiled by Takemichi Hirakawa, Managing Director & CEO of Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd, alongside Moses Eddy, Director & Division Head.

During the launch, Mr. Takemichi Hirakawa emphasized Kobelco’s dedication to meeting the needs of Indian customers over the past 17 years. He highlighted the company’s recent investment of approximately 750 million rupees and described the SK80 Excavator as a significant milestone in the company’s indigenization efforts. With over 70% of its components sourced locally, the SK80 Excavator represents a strong commitment to the Make in India initiative. Mr. Hirakawa also noted that India is becoming a crucial manufacturing hub for Kobelco, not only to satisfy domestic demand but also to tap into growing export opportunities.

As a subsidiary of Kobelco Construction Machinery Co. Japan, Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd manufactures excavators and cranes at its facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The company is well-equipped to meet customer needs across India, Nepal, and Bangladesh, with over 140 service and parts outlets.

The newly launched SK80 Excavator, powered by a Yanmar engine, features several innovative advancements, including superior technology, an advanced hydraulic system, enhanced fuel efficiency, operator comfort, durability, and ease of maintenance. These features distinguish the SK80 Excavator from its competitors and underscore Kobelco’s commitment to sustainability. With a variety of available attachments, the SK80 Excavator is versatile, capable of performing tasks such as digging, lifting, and grading, making it a valuable addition to any construction site.
