Teleo has announced a strategic expansion, extending the deployment of its autonomous heavy machinery—including wheel loaders, terminal tractors, and excavators—into industries beyond construction. The company has secured orders for 34 machines and nine new customer deals in sectors such as pulp and paper, logging, port logistics, munition clearing, and agriculture. Teleo also plans to expand into additional sectors like airports, waste and recycling, logistics, and warehousing. Recent orders include an expanded presence in snow removal and construction, with the company making its entry into the Australian market.
According to Teleo’s Co-founder and CEO, Vinay Shet, the company’s machine-agnostic platform is designed to be universally applicable to any make or model of heavy machinery, providing significant value across various industries. This versatile technology enables quick and easy deployment across a range of job sites, both indoor and outdoor, and from remote to bustling environments.
New Industries and Applications
Teleo’s autonomous technology is now being implemented across diverse industries. For example:
- Munition Clearing: Brice Environmental Services Corporation, based in Alaska, is outfitting a Liebherr 9150B excavator with Teleo’s technology for remote operation on the Aleutian Chain, an area historically known to contain unexploded munitions. This technology will allow safer shoreline repair operations, with deployment set to begin in 2025.
- Pulp and Paper: RYAM, a global leader in paper milling, has ordered three Caterpillar wheel loaders—models 988K, 980M, and 988H—equipped with Teleo Supervised Autonomy. These loaders will operate 24/7 at RYAM’s pulp and paper mill in Florida, hauling bark and wood chips. By fall, a single operator will oversee multiple machines from a central command center, improving productivity and worker safety.
- Logging: Fin-Terpuu Oy, one of Europe’s largest logging companies, has deployed Teleo’s technology on a Volvo L350F wheel loader. This marks the world’s first logging yard with autonomous operations, overcoming labor shortages and enhancing safety in harsh, around-the-clock environments in Finland.
- Port Logistics: Finnish port logistics company Rauanheimo has implemented Teleo Supervised Autonomy on a Volvo L350H wheel loader to autonomously haul bulk materials, including iron and wood pellets, at Kokkola Port. Operations run 24/7, facilitated by Teleo’s global partner Sumirai.
Expansion in Snow Removal and Construction
Teleo’s success in the snow removal industry continues with a new order from Alff Construction in Arkansas. Alff has equipped a John Deere 333G compact track loader with Teleo’s technology for remote snow removal at big-box retailer locations. The company is also testing the system for potential nationwide expansion, using the machine for landscaping and grading projects during other seasons.
Global Construction Footprint
Teleo is broadening its reach into the Australian construction industry through a contract with Black Cat Civil, an Australian construction and mining company. The company will integrate Teleo’s technology into 10 Caterpillar 740EJ articulated dump trucks (ADTs) by 2025. The system will improve productivity, reduce logistical challenges, and create safer working conditions by enabling remote operations.
Additionally, MS Park Construction, a New York-based company, has placed an order to outfit 10 machines with Teleo’s system. These machines, including eight John Deere 410P ADTs and two 850L SmartGrade bulldozers, will be used to autonomously perform large-scale earthmoving and precision grading at a construction site in Atlanta. The partnership will also include operator training through Dobbs Positioning Solutions to ensure smooth and efficient deployment.
Teleo’s continued expansion into new industries and international markets underscores its commitment to transforming operations with machine-agnostic autonomy, enhancing productivity and safety across a diverse range of sectors.
