In a significant move for the construction industry, Trimble has announced a new strategic relationship with John Deere (NYSE: DE) aimed at accelerating the innovation and adoption of grade control technology. This collaboration will integrate Trimble Earthworks Grade Control technology with the John Deere SmartGrade™ platform, providing customers worldwide with enhanced machine control capabilities that promise to boost productivity, efficiency, and decision-making.
For over a decade, John Deere has offered a Trimble Ready® option on select machines to facilitate aftermarket installations. With this expanded partnership, select John Deere machines equipped with SmartGrade technology will now have Trimble Earthworks available directly from the factory or as a field upgrade. This integration will ensure that SmartGrade-equipped machines fit seamlessly into the Trimble technology ecosystem, streamlining connectivity between the office and job site while optimizing jobsite data usage.
Jerred Pauwels, Vice President of Earthmoving Production Systems & Engineering at John Deere, emphasized the partnership’s potential, stating, “Our mission is to help our customers maximize their productivity and profitability, especially when incorporating valuable technology solutions into their equipment fleets. Our partnership with Trimble presents a tremendous opportunity for our customers to access Trimble’s advanced technology ecosystem. Paired with the power and performance of the John Deere construction equipment lineup with SmartGrade, our customers will achieve productivity gains at the jobsite and beyond.”
This collaboration not only enhances jobsite safety and efficiency but also underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing machine control technology in the construction sector. To ensure a smooth transition for customers, various purchasing options will soon be available for John Deere SmartGrade with Trimble Earthworks, including factory-direct installations, field upgrades, and integration into the Trimble Construction One suite of digital solutions.
By integrating Trimble Earthworks, John Deere customers will gain greater access to Trimble’s comprehensive construction technology ecosystem. This strategic approach will empower customers to elevate their operations by effectively managing and connecting data throughout the design-build-operate lifecycle of their construction projects.
Ron Bisio, Senior Vice President of Field Systems at Trimble, added, “Trimble is committed to making it as easy as possible for civil construction contractors worldwide to benefit from machine control technology, regardless of their heavy equipment type. Our Connect & Scale strategy enables smarter operations across digital and physical domains. We are excited to team up with John Deere to advance this mission and better serve their customers’ preferred workflows.”
As this partnership unfolds, the construction industry can look forward to a new era of enhanced productivity and efficiency through advanced technology solutions.
