The Fiori self-loading mixers are a result of continuous innovation over the last 80 years – Siva Ramalingam, Managing Director, Fiori Concrete Machines India Pvt Ltd

What growth do you see for your products across the country?

The Self Loading Mixer market has been steadily growing for last 8-10 years and we expect that this growth will continue for at least 6-8 years. Fiori will participate and contribute in this growth

How has swivel drum shaped the evolution of self-loading mixer technology across the industry?

Fiori had the swivel drum technology since 1982 and this has been improved upon since then. Fiori’s swivel drum and compact design, actually allows the user to discharge concrete all around the machine with a swivel angle of 240 degree and with a discharge chute which can rotate by 180 degree.

What were the customer needs that drove the development of X-Generation SLM?

The Rear Loading Mixer with Swivel drum is basically useful for sites with constrained space for movement and for sites with a requirement of discharging concrete on both sides of the machine. However, majority of the sites have enough space for machine movement. Additionally, the swivel mechanism requires to be maintained.

Such customer feedback led to the development of the X-Generation SLM or the Front Loading Mixer. The Front Loading machine offers the operator a complete view of the loading & unloading area and also during travelling, thereby ensuring greater safety of operations.

With Chennai being the only Fiori manufacturing hub outside of Italy, how does this location contribute to Fiori’s global supply chain?

The Chennai factory prima facie will be catering to the Indian market, while the rest of the world requirements would be taken by the manufacturing facility at Italy.

The DBX 5000 stands out for its productivity and large batch capacity. How does its design, and its front-loading system, adds to its performance?

The DBX 5000 is a front loading mixer. It is equipped with a grab bucket which increases the fill efficiency and there-by reducing the number of buckets required to batch the required quantity of aggregates. This reduces the cycle time and increases productivity. The DBX 5000 with its front loading arrangement ensures that the operator has a clear view of the loading and unloading point. This leads to better productivity from the operator too.

Please elaborate on how CBV 2.0 system computerized batching technology that ensure quality concrete in remote sites?

The CBV 2.0 is the Fiori in-house developed control system. The CBV 2.0 ensures that the mix design is correctly followed. It also allows for an accurate correction in the water being used by allowing the operators to do moisture correction.  In case the operators takes more material than the designed quantity, the CBV alerts the operator to Tip Off the excess material. All these contributes to ensure that quality of concrete is maintained in every batch.

How the mixing and unloading improve operator efficiency and flexibility?

The Fiori CBV 2.0 ensures that the concrete mix design is closely monitored. It also ensures that the concrete is mixed homogeneously and for the designed mixing time. This information is available to the operator. This ensures that the operator is assured that the concrete is homogenously mixed. This avoids wastage of the operator’s time to check upon readiness of the concrete for discharge. This adds to the overall efficiency in operation.

What design considerations improve operator comfort and reduce fatigue?

The cabins of the Fiori mixers along-with the ergonomically designed operator seat are designed to give the operator a much better view of the site without much physical movement. This reduces the operator fatigue, increases the operator comfort and improves productivity.
