BKT reinforces its global leadership in high-performance Off-the-Road tyre solutions

At EXCON 2025, Balkrishna Industries Ltd. showcased next-generation off-highway tyre and track solutions, highlighting innovation, sustainability, and application-specific performance designed to support evolving construction, mining, and infrastructure demands in India and global markets.

What innovative trends or client requirements did you observe at EXCON 2025? Which of your products, technologies, or solutions introduced at the event commanded the value proposition and why?

EXCON 2025 was an excellent platform that brought together OEMs and auto-component manufacturers, enabling meaningful networking and business discussions. A key trend we observed was the growing demand for high-performance, application-specific solutions that deliver durability, efficiency, and long-term value.

At the event, we showcased our next-generation off-highway tyre solutions for the construction, mining, and material-handling sectors. This included mining tyres for 190- and 240-ton dump trucks and loader tyres for heavy-duty equipment, primarily relevant for global markets. For India, we highlighted our locally manufactured rubber tracks, which offer enhanced stability and traction.

As the sole Indian supplier in this retail category, our rubber tracks stood out for its ‘Make in India for the world’ proposition and strong service support. EXCON 2025 provided a strong platform to showcase these innovations and engage with partners driving India’s infrastructure growth.

Which emerging technology or innovation do you see as a game-changer for the construction equipment industry?

The Indian tyre industry is experiencing strong and sustained growth driven by a rise in infrastructure development, increased mechanization and activity in mining, construction and material handling sectors. Major industry trends include the adoption of advanced materials, smart tyre technologies, sustainability-led manufacturing practices, and a preference for premium long-life tyres that lower the total cost of ownership.

The transition from traditional tyres to advanced radial tyres is a significant development for the construction equipment industry. Radial construction offers better fuel efficiency, longer tyre life, improved heat dissipation, and enhanced traction.

How do you assess the current market demand for construction and heavy equipment within with respect to the latest development in your segment?

BKT’s strong global position is built on our core philosophy of offering the right tyre for the right application. By engineering tyres precisely for the machine, terrain, and operating conditions, we are able to consistently deliver superior performance, safety, and efficiency across construction, mining, and industrial sectors. The current demand for construction and heavy equipment continues to evolve, driven by infrastructure development, mining activity, and the need for higher equipment uptime and productivity.

We assess market demand by collaborating closely with OEMs, distributors, dealers, fleet operators, and industry bodies worldwide. This enables us to capture real-time insights on equipment usage, operational challenges, and emerging performance requirements. These inputs directly feed into our application-specific design process across our portfolio of over 3,600 SKUs, allowing us to continuously refine tread patterns, compounds, and construction types in line with evolving market needs.

What opportunities do you see for collaboration or innovative technologies aligned with your upcoming projects?

BKT’s tyres and tracks are engineered to deliver stronger traction, optimized rolling resistance, and extended service life, ensuring fewer replacements and improved total lifecycle cost for both OEMs and contractors. We believe that choosing the right tyre begins with understanding the terrain and ensuring that load capacity is perfectly matched to the equipment’s gross vehicle weight rating.

Co-creation is central to our innovation approach; guided by our ‘Growing Together’ philosophy, we work closely with OEM partners to design tyres tailored to specific machinery and applications. For us, tyres are not just components, they are performance enablers that empower our customers to achieve higher productivity, reduce total cost of ownership, and lasting operational excellence.

We are also enhancing dealer networks and after-sales support to help contractors and fleet operators reduce total cost of ownership, ensuring it captures both immediate and long-term growth opportunities.

What strategies would you recommend to address industry challenges such as productivity, sustainability, and digitalization?

Tyres play a critical role in enhancing the productivity and efficiency of construction equipment by delivering maximized traction, minimized downtime, and optimized fuel consumption. Our tyres are engineered using advanced compounds and technology that provide stability and reliability. This ensures that construction machinery operates at peak performance across tough terrains.

Sustainability is at the core of BKT’s long-term strategy, inspiring innovation across both our products and manufacturing processes. By harnessing renewable energy, optimizing production processes, and developing sustainable materials, we minimize our environmental footprint while maintaining the uncompromised quality, reliability, and efficiency that define every BKT product, ensuring long-term value for our customers and the planet.

We have e-ready tyres in our range designed to support electric equipment, and we are introducing several new tyre sizes with reduced rolling resistance to meet the needs of modern electric machinery. To meet these challenges, our teams are experimenting, actively tracking ongoing research, continuously learning from new developments, and keeping a close watch on industry updates to ensure BKT’s solutions remain at the forefront of innovation.

What infrastructure requirements are necessary to gain major market share for your product?

We have established four world-class manufacturing facilities in India, in Waluj, Bhiwadi, Chopanki and Bhuj, with the Bhuj serving as our flagship plant in India, that supply tyres to more than 163 countries. Our plants are designed to meet global standards in technology, automation, and sustainability, enabling us to supply high-quality tyres to both domestic and international markets.

In line with our vision to scale sustainably and meet rising global demand, in mid-2025, we announced plans to increase manufacturing and expanding carbon black production by an additional 360,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) and adding 24 MW of cogeneration power at our flagship plant in Bhuj.

We also have created a strong growth plan to increase our revenue by 2.2x by FY2030, reaching about INR 23,000 crore from INR 10,600 crore in FY2025. This growth will come from three key areas: expanding our Carbon Black capacity, entering new tyre categories in the Indian market, and increasing our presence in the Off-Highway Tyre (OHT) segment. These steps will help us reach new customers, strengthen our market position and drive steady long-term growth.

With this blend of market diversification, product excellence, and deeper vertical integration, we remain agile, leverage our global strengths, and continue delivering meaningful value as the industry evolves. With strong government initiatives supporting infrastructure, agriculture, and mining, we foresee significant growth, and a strong upward trajectory for the industries.

At BKT, we provide strong on-site service support to ensure tyres deliver optimum performance throughout their lifecycle. Our commitment to proper after-sales assistance helps customers maximize product utilization, reduce downtime, and achieve significant cost savings.
