The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), in its 85th board meeting held on Wednesday, approved a series of major projects aimed at shaping the development around the upcoming Noida International Airport. These include housing for economically weaker sections (EWS), infrastructure upgrades, and large-scale recreational facilities—all aligned with the YEIDA Master Plan 2041.

EWS Housing Scheme Gets Green Light

One of the key decisions was the rollout of a housing scheme for individuals from economically weaker sections. YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh announced that 30,000 residential plots of 30 square metres each will be allotted to applicants with an annual income below ₹3 lakh. The initiative is designed to provide formal housing options to the growing workforce expected in the region and prevent the rise of informal settlements.

In the first phase, 4,268 plots will be made available across Sectors 17, 18, and 20.

Infrastructure Boost: Police Station and Fire Services

To support the area’s rapid urbanisation, YEIDA also approved the construction of a new police station on a 1,000 square metre plot. The building will have 60% ground coverage and a height cap of 24 metres as per FAR 2.5 norms.

Additionally, two new fire stations will be set up in Sectors 18 and 32. Each station will occupy a 7,485 square metre plot, which has been allotted to the fire department at a nominal rate of ₹1 per square metre.

Green Belt Development and Recreational Projects

YEIDA has big plans for recreational infrastructure too. Expansive recreational zones will be developed in Sectors 22F and 23B as part of the green belt. Approved facilities include a golf course, a Gymkhana Club, and the Yamuna Haat. The board is also considering ambitious projects like the Kingdom of Dreams, an Olympic Village, an Aviation Museum, and the Oxford Golf Course to boost tourism and community engagement in the region.

These projects are likely to be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The board has instructed officials to draft detailed guidelines for these ventures to attract private investment and ensure timely, high-quality execution.

With these approvals, YEIDA aims to create a balanced ecosystem of affordable housing, essential services, and high-end recreational spaces around the Noida International Airport, laying the foundation for a well-planned urban hub.
