The Odisha Steel Producers’ Association (OSPA) has unanimously elected Asit Tripathy, former Chief Secretary of Odisha and Advisor to Jindal Steel, as its President at a meeting of member companies.

OSPA is a newly established industry platform comprising leading steel and mining companies operating in the state, including Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, Jindal Stainless, JSW Steel, and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, among others. The association aims to enhance industry collaboration, promote knowledge sharing, and facilitate structured engagement with key stakeholders.
With decades of experience in governance, policy, and industrial development, Tripathy brings strong institutional insight and leadership to the role.
OSPA has also appointed S. K. Popli (IFS, Retd.) as Secretary General. He brings extensive expertise in governance, natural resource management, and sustainability, and will support the association’s policy initiatives and institutional development.
Speaking on the occasion, Tripathy said:
“Odisha is at the forefront of India’s steel growth story. OSPA will work closely with the Government and stakeholders to support responsible, inclusive, and future-ready industrial development in the state.”
The meeting saw participation from representatives of 15 leading steel and mining companies, reflecting strong industry alignment.
As India’s largest producer of steel and iron ore, Odisha is poised for continued industrial growth. OSPA is expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of the sector’s expansion, contributing to job creation and broader socio-economic development.
